FAQ’s
Which of your
seats will fit my bike?
We make all of our seats custom to
order, so can make a pan in a solo or any of our 2-up models to fit
your Harley Davidson models. We make our pans to mount as stock, so
they will fit your bike as long as your stock seat still fits your
bike. Right now, we have a pan design up thru 2009 Harley Davidson
Bikes. The exceptions: Some Deuce seats, and the Rocker. We do
not carry a stock of pans for import bikes; however, there is always
the option of sending us your existing seat. We use the pan and
create a Bar Enterprises seat for you! To make sure we make the
right pan for your bike you must tell us the correct year, make,
and model of your bike.
Do you make a
tallboy/reach seat/ etc?
Yes! Again, we are making you seat
custom for you, so we make it to fit your body. We don’t carry a
stock of “reach” seats or “tallboys” as not everyone is equally
short or tall, but we will take information about your body, riding
style, and specific comfort complaints to make your seat perfect!
Do I have to
tell you my weight? Why do you ask so many personal questions?
Just as all bikes are not created
equal, nor are all bodies! We want your seat to be perfect for you,
and to do that, we need to know you. Chances are you can’t come to
our shop, so we have to get as much information as possible to offer
you the right materials and make the proper adjustments to your
seat. Some information you should be prepared to tell us:

Your height

Your weight,
and how you carry it
·
Your pant
inseam
·
Your age
This also applies to your passenger
if you are getting a 2-up seat. In the event the driver and
passenger don’t want to share this information with each other, each
person can contact us directly. We won’t put your data on our
website; it is used solely for the purpose of making the seat.
I have a bad
back, hips, legs, etc…can you make me ride again?
We obviously can’t offer this
guarantee, only you know your body and its ability. We have helped
many bikers with painful injuries ride more comfortably by adjusting
for them. Make sure to share these issues with us when you order so
we can offer you options that have worked for others in the past.
Can I put a
spring seat on my bike? How do I install the kit?
We carry a few different kits for
spring seats, but they do not cover all models of bikes. Please
check the Universal Mounting Kit page for options that we
carry. You can also buy a kit from any aftermarket parts dealer.
If you find a kit to fit your bike, we can make a spring seat pan to
fit the kit. If you are a little bit handy, you can put the kit on
your bike yourself. If you need help, feel free to call us at the
shop at 818-353-3888 and we will walk you through it!
I
can’t find a price for what I want on the website, how much would it
be for…..?
The website was created to show
examples of seats we can do. You can take any seat style, add
design, material, color, and foam. It is something of a
build-it-yourself project, with us doing the work! Feel free to
call or email us with your seat ideas and we will work you up a
quote.
I would like a
seat like Ken’s/Becky’s/etc. from the website, but I don’t like….
No problem! We encourage you to
browse around and tell us what you do and do not like about other
customer’s seats, other manufacturer’s seat, your stock seat,
anything you can find to compare to. You can specify thickness,
width, height, color, materials…the creative process is up to you!
I already have 3
seats from different manufacturers, what makes yours different? I
don’t want to be stuck with another seat.
The difference lies in the fact that
we are making YOU a seat, not a seat for your BIKE. We do not mass
manufacture, nor assume that every rider is created the same. If
you have seats you don’t like, send them to us! Why pay for yet
another seat? You can send us one of your existing seats for
adjustments, or a complete makeover, and save yourself some money in
the process!
I like my
current seat but….
Want it to look cool? Need it just
a little lower? It’s a bit old and needs new foam? The cover got
trashed? No problem! Some people are perfectly happy with their
existing seat, and we are happy for them. We will make as many or
as few changes as you need to create the perfect seat!
What is the
order process? What information do you need from me?
Once we have discussed and confirmed
your seat design, we will make up an order for you. For the
paperwork end of things, we need your billing and shipping address,
as well as credit card information. We prefer credit card
information via telephone or fax for your security.
Once we have the order ready, we
will email you a copy of it. Please review it and let us know as
soon as possible if something is incorrect. We will not charge your
credit card until your seat is complete and ready to ship, and at
that time we will email you a UPS or USPS tracking number.
Do you take
PayPal? What if I don’t want to give you my credit card?
Sorry, we do not take PayPal at this
time. If you prefer not to use a credit card, you can mail us a
personal check or money order. We will begin creating your seat
when the payment clears the bank.
Well, I found a
seat for $XXX from another manufacturer, why is yours so much more/
less? Will you match a competitor’s price?
Just like any other product on the
market, prices vary. Often people are shocked at how affordable our
seats are…what can we say? We ride too, and we like to offer a high
quality product at a fair price!
We do not mass manufacture, and we
use only the highest quality materials. Because of these factors, we
are unable to match a competitor’s price.
What if I don’t
like my seat?
TELL US! Communication is key in
this process. Most of the time we get it right, occasionally we
don’t. If your seat is not comfortable, contact us and we will do
our best to make adjustments to the seat!
Can I come to
the shop?
YES! In you are in the Southern
California area, come see us! We are open business hours weekdays,
though around weekends and the busy season (Mid-spring through
mid-fall) you may want to give a call first as we travel to many
shows. The best way to create a seat is in person, where you can
see materials, hold colors to your bike, test foams, and be
measured.
Even if you aren’t buying a seat
right now, feel free to come on by and say Hi, we would like to meet
you!
I saw this seat
at a show for $XXX, why is it more now?
We do carry a small stock of seats
for shows and events. We offer show pricing, usually at discount as
you are buying the seat “as is.” This is not to say there is
anything wrong with the seat, on the contrary, these seats are often
highly unique as they are stitched with one time designs, inlayed
with small trimmings or discontinued materials. We make all kinds
of seats to showcase design options, and if you see one that fits
your bike, GET IT! Once we have to make you one to order, you will
have to pay full price for it.
Do you offer
discounts? Can we negotiate a price?
Sometimes we do offer discounts, it
never hurts to ask! We have offered discounted seats in the past
for some organizations, or multiple orders. If we are having a sale
of the month, it can be found on the home page of the website, so
check back often as the sale changes...one month may be 15% off all
Hitchhikers, the next sale may be 20% off all Dyna seats!
Why Can’t I get
a King and Queen seat online?
King and Queen Seats pose a unique
challenge as we have to make a pan to contour the shape of the bike
and sissy bar. It is very difficult to measure angles of the bike
without having the bike in the shop. There are instances where we
have been able to make a pan, ship it to the customer, and have them
try it on the bike, return ship it, making adjustments and
continuing this back and forth process until the pan fits, and
finally shipping the customer the finished product. Unfortunately,
this option can become quite costly as you are paying multiple
shipping charges.
Can you match my
paint? What if I send you pictures?
Sometimes we can match paint,
sometimes its close. Pictures, both of your bike and of our
materials, are only as accurate as your computer monitor settings.
To be totally sure of the color you are getting, send us your
address and what materials interest you, and we can send you samples
of the actual material!
Why is my seat a
different shape than the picture I was looking at online?
If you are looking at a picture of a
Solo Classic for example, make sure you are looking at the seat that
is for your model bike. A Softail is a drastically different shape
that a Sportster and the seats are different too.
My bike looks
like this, what should I put on it?
Seats, like all art, are beautiful
in the eye of the beholder! Use your imagination, consider your
personality: are you flashy or mellow? Do you want your seat to
reflect that or contrast it? We are more than willing to give
personal opinions, but really, who cares what we think??? It’s your
seat!
Can you send me a picture of what it will look like
before I order it?
Unfortunately, this is not
possible. That would mean we have to make the seat, and send you a
picture. This puts us in the position of being stuck with a custom
seat if you don’t decide to follow through with your order. It just
doesn’t make much sense, does it?
How can I check on the status of an
order?
At the time of your order, we will
give you an approximate ship date. The lead time depends on how
many orders area ahead of yours. If it is near your ship date, feel
free to give us a call directly at the shop at 818-353-3888. Please
have your order number ready when inquiring about your status.
Also, please remember every time you call to “check” on your seat is
time we are spending NOT working on your seat!
